Why is this page called "Life?" Well, no real meaning - we just needed something that Health could fit under and don't we seem to avoid things with "Health" ya knawamean? As you should fully well know - we're still evolving so the end layout of this page is unknown; however, the "Meditation" info will always stay put

MEDITATION

**When you have 20-30 minutes of free time**

Quiet - Find a silent place that you can make your quiet space. (If you're at work - you can go to your car or the bathroom {sit on the commode and put your feet on the toilet bowl})

Get Comfortable - Laying down, sitting with your legs crossed, upside down; however (sorry, can't do this in the bathroom at work)

Calm - take a minute to relax, slow your breathing and be still

Find your mantra - select a word/sound with no real meaning and concentrate or just say repeat hum or om

***Follow this when you don't have time***

RELAX - STOP! Deep inhale - Calm yourself.

RELATE - Make it have some kind of importance - it doesn't? Than let it go Everything happens for a reason good or bad!

RELEASE - EXHALE - Let the stress and negative energy go too.

ROAD RAGERS!

Remember - you CAN NOT control no one but yourself! You getting distracted will cause you harm. Okay? Some things to do:

1. Listen to something soothing in the car. Don't play your favorite song that's going to get you hyped.

2. BREATHE!

Knowledge is the key to life. Feed It. Start with your temple.
HERB OF THE MONTH

Every month, we are going to try to bring you something informative within five topics:

Women Men Children Sex Nourishment(Okay - FOOD)

This month's features are on Chlamydia, Coffee, Cancer(Men), PMS. All information will be gathered from various websites, with the accompanying link back to the full article. We also have a special article by Mahogahni, "Those tips and things they say I shouldn’t say, . . . about pregnancy and children . . ." Enjoy.

Coming soon, we will have information on going natural - what it means, and breaking it down from food to money to hair. With life and health some where down the line will come "religion" and yes, we'll dabble in that too (We will remain neutral on whatever information we post on this site, due to recent events, we want to make sure when we evolve to that level we let anyone and everyone have a light. There are many of us out there who are still searching and finding, and if we can help you rise, we rise.). SO BE PATIENT please! The Huerizon is in the 9th cycle of manisfestation ready for Mahogahni and her crew to set it free.

Oh, and don't be stank - women don't just read the women info and vice versa. Alright?

PMS - Fact Or Fiction?

"You feel cranky, icky, just plain yucky - so of course, it's PMS, right? Many women swear they suffer as their period approaches. Yet a new study shows that for many women, that's a self-fulfilling prophecy. They expect to feel bad, so they do." ("PMS: Fact or Fiction - Women Swallow Too Many Negative Media Messages, Says Study" Jeanie Davis MSN Health)

Did you know?

Chlamydia is still the #1 sexually transmitted disease? Even though it has a simple cure, this silent burner can strike any and everybody.

Why?

A recent
article by Daniel DeNoon, says that "Three out of four infected women - and one in two infected men - don't get early symptoms . . . Two out of five infected women will go on to develop inflammatory disease, or PID. PID means infertility 20% of the time; debilitatin chronic pelvic pain 18%; and life threatening tubal pregnancy 9% of the time." AND YES MEN!!!! It can make you sterile.

SO STRAP IT!! Even if you've been in a "monogamous" relationship for awhile, still get tested, the other person could have brought it into the relationship without symptoms.

What are the symptoms?

Men - discharge from the penis, burning during urination, swollen testicles. Women (remember - we may not notice early symptoms) - can cause bleeding between periods, painful urination or intercourse, vaginal bleeding after intercourse, low - grade fever, frequent urge to urinate, inflamed cervix, abnormal discharge that may smell.

You know, men are getting pap smears now?

I know that line will make you have a second glance, so know you're reading don't stop just because . . . that option is mainly for gay males to check for Anal Cancer.

However, men, you need to be aware of colon, prostate, testicle, and penile cancer also. And if your father had one of these forms of cancer. You need to start screenings . . . 10 years before the age he was diagnosed. So if he got it at 50, you start at 40.

So what can you do to protect yourself? What you should already be doing . . . eating healthy, excersizing, staying out of the direct sun, and not smoking.

54% of the adult population of the United States drink coffee every day, representing 110 million daily drinkers.

35% of coffee drinkers drink their coffee black: whole 62% add a sweetener and/or creaming agent

the half life of caffeine in the average adult is roughly three and a half hours

within an hour, caffeine reaches peak concentration in the brain

mean and women process caffeine differently, with the concentration in women sometimes twice as much as men

the first coffeehouses appeared in England around 1676

we should call coffee an "aromatic infusion of vegetable matter" from now on

Every week we will bring a new way to relieve the stress in your life. Enjoy! Ways To Cope With Stress:

1. When you first wake up - before you do anything else: PAUSE, take a deep breath, exhale and thank who ever you thank for blessing you with another day.

2. Prepare for the morning the night before

HEY MOMMIES!!! We got a lil something just for you!!!

"Those tips and things they say I shouldn’t say, . . . about pregnancy and children . . ." Mahogahni (Mother of Haile Elijah – 2 1/2 & Darian Emmanuel - 9 months)
***Inspired by the article "10 things they don’t tell you about pregnancy" Essence July 24th Lisa Isom***

1. Everyone will not baby-sit like they say. So all those, "Oh, the baby is so precious, I’ll baby-sit for you anytime" NOT!!! When you really need them, they won’t be there. Now, it’s some people who really mean it but like they say – don’t put all your eggs in one basket – always have a backup!

2. Pregnancy is enjoyable. Pregnancy is enjoyable? Yeah, I just had to type it twice to make sure I’m right – I mean it could be – if you gained no excess weight, have no cramps, your emotions don’t torpedo into a monsoon, your support systems don’t get on your nerves, your poopoo didn’t hurt, and if your breasts didn’t leak. I really could go on but more than likely you’re pregnant – you feeling it so I’ll stop. Our bodies do go through drama, some woman (which out of 17 woman I know, only 1 said it was) say it’s enjoyable but just be for warned – it damn sure ain’t peaches and cream.

3. Epidural is not a punk’s way out. SISTAS!! The shit hurts – but if you can’t take the pain of the contractions – than maybe you can bare the prep and than the 3 minutes of staying PERFECTLY STILL while someone sticks a needle in your back. (Me? Yes, I stuck with it twice). Regardless, the Epidural helps. Just make sure, your nurses pay attention to what you really need. My first birth, I was still numb 8 hours later (too much), my second they gave me too little and I could begin to feel the pain.

4. Men can be real assholes. Brothas!! So maybe many of ya’ll are punks or my sistas headstrong and sistas are doing this thing single now . . . it don’t mean we want holla! I mean DAMN!! Both times I was pregnant – why was brothas trying to holla when I was 9 months ready to drop but wouldn’t hold the door open? Sistas – don’t think the door will get held open anymore than usual.

5. Patience will come with your child . . . . . HA HA HA.

6. And since it doesn’t – it’s okay to walk away. In the beginning until you get used to your babies cry – it may work your nerve. . so stop and breathe.

7. TERRIBLE TWOS REALLY EXISTS!!!!!

8. Go OUT! Party while you’re pregnant until you can’t. You may think it will be easy to arrange for a night out but it’s won’t always happen so easy (At least before they start walking).

9. Morning sickness last all day.

10. Nobody can tell you when the baby is coming. Alright? That baby is going to come when it’s time.

11. YES – labor feels like a BIG ASS BOWEL movement.

12. Yes, they don’t joke when they say you will crave some crazy stuff – but don’t go running for the pickles – that’s been glorified by TV. Try shrimps and peaches. Or Beefaroni and ice cream sandwiches.

13. The weight (unless you were extremely fit) WILL NOT go away by itself.

14. START YOUR BIRTH CONTROL IN THE HOSPITAL! Cuz sistas – if you got pregnant easy the first time – you will get pregnant again!

15. Having sex will start labor – well it didn’t for me. I’m not saying that it won’t work for you, it just didn’t for me. And it was quite uncomfortable. But walking – it works, I walked the hell out of both my pregnancies and I can honestly say, I think it helped.

16. They say your water doesn’t gush out – yes it can. And no – pads will not help.

17. Spit up stinks and the smell stays. For real, you might get the stain out – but that smell ain’t going anywhere.

18. No you aren’t weak because you bottle-feed – they just mad cuz we get to sleep at night. (I know it’s the best but I couldn’t do it and there is nothing wrong with my boys)

19. I know it’s nasty but yes, baby (your baby) pee can clean the milk off of their tongue. I was shocked but I tried it and it works.

20. WASH YOUR BABIES FEET!! Okay new mommies, you don’t have to bathe your baby everyday, but just remember wash their feet. You may not think about it when you are putting the baby in the tub and their feet stick out, but running the washcloth over them doesn’t clean them. Get between their toes! Many of us let our babies stay in socks for the first few months – and their feet perspire, and yes, they will have little feet order.

21. As soon as you feel your milk come in (breastfeeding or not) put on a tight regular sports bra with side straps, then put on another one with criss cross straps. Keep you breast very tight and confined. The more they move the more they will hurt. Also, get nursing pads or just cut an overnight sanitary napkin and stuff your bra. If you are not breastfeeding, this will help your breast leak. Yes, breast milk does smell and the pain is outrageous.

22. THE MAN – Sistas – I’ve had one without (and his girlfriend was at the hospital while I was in labor) and I had one with (which out of 3 kids, this was the first one he’d seen born). Either way – they will get on your nerves.
Remember – IT IS NOT ABOUT HIM. It is about you and your baby. Really, regardless of what happens, the baby is first, than mommy, than daddy. They generally know less than you, so bare with them and make them OVERstand. Okay? And

23. BE STRONG. You will be a beautiful mother. LOVE IT AND ACCEPT IT! Your views will change. And guess what? Remember those things you said you would never say? I do it everyday.

I can keep on and on – but I’m 23 so I just stopped there. But Sistas – please email me if you have questions or them folk keep telling you to do it this way and you just don’t know what to do!!
